Bills of materials and routing
Define your product structures as single-level or multi-level BOMs. Components, sub-assemblies, and finished goods are all linked. Work centre routing defines the sequence of operations, the time required at each station, and which machine or team performs each step.
Manufacturing orders and work orders
Manufacturing orders (MOs) are created from sales demand or a production schedule. Each MO generates the work orders for each routing step, triggers raw material reservation, and tracks the production progress in real time. Shop floor operators confirm completion on a tablet or mobile.
In-process quality control
Quality control points are triggered at defined stages: on raw material receipt, at specific work centre operations, and at final inspection. Failing a QC check raises a quality alert and can block the production order from proceeding — so defects are caught before they become finished goods rejections or customer returns.
Accurate production costing
Every manufacturing order records actual raw material consumption, actual labour time at each work centre, and allocated overhead. The result is an actual cost of goods manufactured per order — not a standard cost applied at month-end. Variance reporting shows where actual costs differ from the standard BOM cost and why.
Raw material replenishment
Odoo's reorder rules trigger purchase orders automatically when raw material stock drops below defined minimum levels. Routes can be configured to use make-to-order (MTO) or make-to-stock (MTS) logic — or a combination for different product categories. No more manual reorder lists.
Maintenance scheduling
Preventive maintenance schedules are linked to work centres. When a machine is due for maintenance, a maintenance request is created automatically. Equipment downtime is tracked against production orders, so you can calculate the real impact of machine stoppages on output.
